Les Bardets
2022 Les Bardets 'Rouge' Braucol Blend
Login to view price.Bardets Rouge is a blend of four varieties: Braucol (aka Fer), Cabernet Sauvignon, Duras and Syrah. Braucol and Duras are fairly rare across France, but most commonly found in the SW where this wine is from. Cabernet and Syrah are of course a little more known.
Inky and dark in the glass, the aroma is incredibly rich and filling. Blackberry, cassis and plum. Soft and chalky, but present tannins. Great persistence of flavour and moreish too. As the label suggests this is a red you can pour yourself a big glass of and enjoy on its own or with any meal.
The Les Bardets wines are made by Cave de Labastide. Located in the heart of the Gaillac appellation, Labastide was founded in 1949 and today is the oldest cellar in the entire appellation. It is made up of about a hundred cooperative winegrowers with a total footprint of around 1,000 hectares. The aim is to produce honest wines from plots that are farmed organically, made with minimal intervention in the winery and offer them at democratic prices.
