2019 Escoda-Sanahuja 'Mas del Gaio' Parellada blend

Mas del Gaio is Escoda's top white wine and with good reason. If you are looking for something with balance in every aspect, look no further. 

2019 was a hot and dry year, but with timely rain. This produced low yielding, but fruit-forward and concentrated wines. 60% Parellada, 40% Macabeu & Garnatxa Blanca (White Grenache) which was co-planted, harvested together and fermented together. 

Mas del Gaio is always incredibly mineral and light on the palate - it's steely and subdued, but gives rise to light peach, melon and some subtle stonefruit flavours. This wine is from the oldest plot in Escodas' vineyards, thought to be planted around 1900! 5 days skin-contact (again, incredibly light and gentle maceration) with ferment and maturation in tinajas (2200L clay amphora). Just 48 bottles total allocation.
