2016 Commune of Buttons Sade Chardonnay
Commune of Buttons was started in 2013 by brother and sister Jasper and Sophie Button, who, with their mother, have been organically growing grapes in the Basket Range for the past 20 years.
Commune of Buttons is small and dedicated. Jasper and Sophie spend the majority of their time in the vineyard and complete all vineyard and winery processes between them. They try to bottle wines that show purity, freshness, and drinkability over all else.
Sade (Pronounced "shar-day" like the singer) is a Chardonnay from the Button family's home vineyard.
Hand-harvested, hand-sorted, overnight skin-contact, whole bunch pressed into old oak. Left to do its thing. Racked straight from barrel to bottle. Purity of fruit at its best.
Nose of white stonefruit, lemon-lime citrus and the beach. Toothsome minerality on the palate. Incredibly gentle tannin/grip to add some crunch to the fresh, long, acid-forward finish too. We drank the bottle in about 2 minutes flat, it's that good!
