Domaine du Chateau Saint Cyrgues

Costières de Nîmes, France

Located in Saint Gilles, which borders the Camargue region (think wild white ponies and fresh French salt) at the mouth of the Rhone River, Chateau Saint Cyrgues was built on the ruins of the Church of Saint-Cirice de Marge in 1654. This abbey had at one time been part of the Saint Cyrgues priory, where cultivation of vine was part of the monks’ daily rituals, as was drinking Vin Jaune. Today, the Domaine produces excellent, forward-thinking wines that honour their region and history.

Salamadre Orange is a great and gentle entry level orange wine, made from Grenache blanc. Ten days on skins, this has floral notes with peach, summerfruits and a little grip.

Salamadre Rouge is a juicy and spicy 100% Syrah, de-stemmed with a 3 week maceration, full of dark berry acidity and equally rich in colour and body.
